Seller's Description

1930's Vintage German .22 Hornet Sporting rifle

This cute little "Zi-Di" .22 Hornet bolt gun was made in Germany in the 1930's, cal. is 5.7x35R (22 Hornet), Parker-Hale scope mounts with Rodisian made rings (rings not pictured), 50% dulling blue mixed with gray, no pitting or rust, 22" bore is bright and shiny, 5 lbs., perfect machanics, stock is very nice with no cracks or other problems, I shot 5 rnds. of S&B .22 Hornet ammo and the rifle functioned perfectly with good accracy, here's a little info I found on the net,, "In the thirties the ‘Zi-Di’ rifle, patented by Alfred Ziegenhahn was produced jointly with Messrs. Diem of Benshausen who sold these under their name and numbers. The calibre was 5.6 x35R, magazine capacity 5 cartridges. Thanks to his son, Fritz, the workshop was modernised and mechanised so that since about 1925 self-loading pistols in calibre .32 Browning could be made. During World War II, front sights for the Carbine 98 and the Fallschirmjager (airborne troops) machine gun were manufactured." This Co. is still in operation making high end custom sporting arms in Germany!
