Here it is! S.MFG.CO. (Singer) 1911A1 .45cal, serial # S8001XX. I've blocked out the last three numbers in the picture for security reasons. Original finish shows 80-85%, finish stops at both sides of bullet feed ramp, an indication of originality. Markings are as follows; "P" on top of slide points toward muzzle, same "P" is stamped by mag release. The periods in "S. MFG.CO. " are square, the "S", "G","C","O" are also flat on top & bottom. "JKC" (John K. Clement) is stamped on left side of frame. Right side is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" w/ the serial # beneath. The N0S8001XX starts under the "S" in "STATES" and ends under the second "P" in "PROPERTY". Also on the right side "M1911 A1 U.S. Army" is stamped just forward of the slide stop hole. The safety lock tab, slide lock, main spring housing & trigger all have fine checkering present. Trigger is short type. The stocks have no reinforcement rings, mold numbers or internal ribs. Barrel is stamped "HS" (High Standard) on right side of lug and "P" on left side. This is NOT the correct barrel for the Singer; Singer barrels have a "P" on the left side of the lug only. The hammer is also not a Singer hammer, it is 1/16 longer then the singer hammers. I have a boyt holster dated 1942 that the gun sat in for 20 yrs, (maybe more). Based on the wear of the gun you can directly determine what part of the holster touched the gun. I've had the gun X-rayed and have the negatives as to determine if any part of the gun has been altered, it has not. Detailed pictures of this gun have been sent to MR. Charles W. Clawson, based on the pictures I've sent him he feels comfortable the gun is original other than the barrel and hammer. E-mail Dumonthillbilly@aol.com with any specific questions and/or photo requests. I'll except cash or certified check only for this firearm. Funds will need to be verified before gun leaves my possession. If you want to view in person I suggest you travel to my location to do so. This is the real deal, 500 made! Only 100 can be accounted for based on Mr. Clawson's records. It can only go up as time goes on. Please bid if you are serious and have funds available. Thank you. 4-28-05~ Due to the amount of e-mails I've received on this pistol I feel it's necessary to answer a few common questions. Due to the amount of money this pistol will command I will not be sending it all over the country for inspection until all funds are certified and/or cleared, shipping/insurance will be paid by the buyer. All funds must be certified in full before it leaves my posssession! If you are the winning bidder I suggest you travel to my location before you purchase the gun, I will not hold you accountable if you deem the pistol isn't what is described at that time, the pistol is as described! As for finish; I've shown the pistol to a well know gun manufacture in CT (who will remain namless until the winning bidder is established)and there is no doubt the finish is original. I apologize this seems harsh, but some recent inquires are just simply unreasonable. Thanks again for the interest in this pistol.
