Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Howdah -- .577 Caliber Double Barrel Pistol - LK

Howdah 50 Caliber or .577 Double Barrel Pistol

NO LICENSE REQUIRED, UNLESS YOU LIVE IN A STATE AND/OR CITY THAT REQUIRES ONE FOR BLACK POWDER OR ANTIQUES

A DOUBLE BARREL PERCUSSION THAT WOULD BACK DOWN ANY MAN OR BEAST!!

A very tight and all original HOWDAH Pistol in what "I" believe is .577 Caliber. As you will note in the many photos, a 410 shotgun shell brass end will fit in the bore. Sold as a Collector only, however, I do believe that you could shoot this one after an inspection by a competent Gunsmith. The barrels are 4 ½ inches long, and the overall length is approximately 10 inches. Fits very nicely in your hand, and I have large hands, locks up on half and full cock, hammers come down with sufficient force to do their job. Ramrod may be hand made; however, it has been in this antique for many years. I cannot find any name or marks on this rare pistol anywhere; I have not taken it apart or turned a screw. It does look like some of the very old Richards or North type. These types of pistols are selling well into the two and three thousand dollar range, so, you better jump on the wagon with this one. As well, I've been advised by some "experts" that these were also known at times by "Travelers Pistols", and prior to the "British Bulldog Revolver", were considered a "Weapon of Mass Destruction" in the old West. I don't know the exact date of manufacture, but, would say it is around the 1850's. - Have fun and Bid with Confidence

All should know by now that I do not deal in junk, and I try to supply enough photos from various angles to give you the complete picture of the item. As well, I attempt to give you any background information that I may have on the item and as a complete description as I can. I do this primarily in order for you to make an educated bid on what I have for auction. I do it for my benefit as well, for, I am a buyer as well as a seller, and truly understand that it is very hard to place a bid on an item that you have no information about, or, enough photos to at least see a little of the condition. Furthermore, I do not shine, polish, or use a cover up wax, oil, etc. on any of my auctions.

I am not responsible for any injury to the buyer, and/or other persons, for any act performed by or with any item that I have for auction.
