ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: the trigger is adjustable externally for "Pull" and "O.T.".
This is a Winchester Model 52C Heavy Barrel/Bull Barrel
Indeed, the barrel measures about 7/8 in., at the muzzle and about 1 1/8 in. immediately forward of the receiver.
The rifle is actually designated a "Winchester model 52-22 L. Rifle" but the serial number is 81xxxC with the "C" suffix designating the variation.
The gun weighs, 13.5 pounds, as pictured.
It has a barrel length of 28 inches.
It will come with one magazine.
The rear sight is the large Lyman peep sight that may be a #524, I'm just not sure of the sight model number.
It has a Lyman 77H front sight which will come with a small tin of inserts. The tin is marked inserts for 17A.
The rifle is equipped with grooved scope mounts-the front one being about .450 wide and the rear one about .470 wide.
The bore is excellent. The bluing is for all practical purposes, excellent with wear only on the bolt knob and some high edges. The wood is very nice but expect some honorable marks, throughout. The very front of the stock, on the left side, has a drilled hole [pictured] that may or may not the original but if it is not and it bothers you it could be filled readily. Obviously, the rifle is fully functional. It is a fine rifle in a not so readily available configuration and best of all with the Lyman sight and in very nice condition. However, if pristine condition is vital to you, you may care to look elsewhere. I have a pretty good feedback rating on this auction and I would like to keep it that way. I am not a dealer but have reached an age where it is time to lighten the ship. This rifle will ship in full compliance with B.A.T.F. regulations. Thanks for your interest.
