Stevens 44 Frame. .25-20, 26" heavy barrel, 1/2 octagon and 1/2 round. I am offering this gun at a loss (and have lost sales) due to a recent discovery: someone has rechambered this to a .25-35 Winchester. The bore seems to be decent, not strong rifling but I don't believe these ever did have strong rifling. See last pic for .25-35 bullet fit into end of barrel. Stocks are overly refinished, receiver buffed down to white metal or shiney! My problem is, this caliber exceeds the pressure in this action. I'm sure there are folks out there who will know what to do with this. How do I grade this gun? Very good to poor.
