Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one piece Mote Carlo style stock with a bulb on the front of the forearm. The stock seems to have a faint checkered pattern all over the finish. There are various light compression marks and scratches in the wood. There is a very small chip and scratch on the left side of the butt stock near the butt plate. There is also a compression mark and area where the finish was scratched off on the right side of the stock above the trigger. The LOP measures 13 ¼” from the front of the trigger to the back of the serrated black plastic butt plate. The stocks rate in about Fine overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. It still has the original green and red safety buttons. The balance of the finish shows very light pinprick surface erosion on top of the barrel for the first 3” near the muzzle and there is also a tiny patch toward the rear of the receiver. The screw heads are sharp. The bluing is patchy and is worn off sections of the bolt assembly. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly and smoothly. We have not fired this shotgun.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
Our Assessment: The original model was produced from 1947-1948. It had a plain one-piece pistol grip stock. The gun was distributed with two choke tubes (modified and full), which mount by screwing to the outside of the barrel, as opposed to the inside, like the Remington 870 or other modern shotguns. This shotgun only comes with the single modified choke. 410 shotguns are great for adults and children getting into the sport and are great little turkey guns.
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This shotgun can be transferred in California.
