Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Hi-Standard Model Dura-Matic -- M-101 .22 LR Semi Auto Pistol, MFD 1968

LSB#: 130318TM01

Make: Hi-Standard

Model: Dura-Matic M-101

Serial Number: 2014459

Year of Manufacture: 1968

Caliber: .22 Long Rifle

Action Type: Semi-Automatic with Removable Magazine.

Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “Dura-Matic”. The left side of the slide is marked “HI-Standard “. The right side of the barrel is marked “High Standard Mfg. Corp. / Hamden, Conn., U.S.A. / .22 L.R.” The right side of the slide is marked “M-101” and “2014459”, and the right side of the frame is also marked “2014459”. The underside of the barrel is marked “KI” and with an oval.

Barrel Length: 6 ½”

Sights / Optics: This pistol is mounted with a flat topped square notch rear sight dovetailed into the slide. The front sight is a blade with a serrated vertical rear face. The top of the sight has been struck with something just enough to slightly disfigure the top rear edge.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is one piece checkered reddish brown plastic with a smooth diamond shape molded into the middle of the checkering. The grips have a slightly raised thumbrest on each side. The grip shows light handling marks. However, the top rear corner of the grip has been cracked completely around from left to right. The checkering is sharp without mars. The grip rates in about Fair overall condition.

Type of Finish: The barrel and sides of the slide are blued, while the top of the slide and the frame are matte black.

Finish Originality: All Original

Bore Condition: The bore is shiny and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 95% of its metal finish. The front edges of the barrel, slide and frame show thinning, as do the sides of the trigger guard. The barrel, top of the slide, right side of the slide and the bottom of the trigger guard show a few light handling marks. The top of the front sight shows surface loss and the top rear edge is disfigured. The serrations on the takedown knob and magazine release are sharp. The screw next to the magazine floorplate is slightly distressed. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with one blued 10-round magazine with a plastic follower. It is marked “Hi-Standard” on the floorplate and shows very light wear on the body. It is about in overall Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: High-Standard first designed this pistol as a striker fired “plinker” and later models were even stamped with this name. However, many shooters have found this pistol to be very accurate. The one piece grip that fits around the trigger guard and the serrated takedown knob are certainly unique. This pistol has been kept in great condition and certainly has a lot of “plinking” left in it. The pistol, with its original finish and Fine condition, and with the exception of its grip, is a nice find for the Hi-Standard collector.
