Type of Finish: Nickel
Finish Originality: Originally Matte Blue or Black
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is almost sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 85% of its current metal finish. The revolver was buffed and then plated over the swirls and pitting. The markings on the right side of the barrel and the right sideplate have been at least partially buffed away. The plating has flaked away in scattered areas and surface pinprick erosion has replaced it. The hammer has been plated, but the trigger still has some case coloring visible. The screw heads are almost sharp, but show signs of a screwdriver. The markings run from clear to buffed-out. Overall, this handgun rates in about Good condition.
Mechanics: The single and double actions function correctly. This is a Square Butt, K Frame revolver with a pinned barrel, finely checkered service hammer and a serrated service trigger. We did not fire this handgun.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
Our Assessment: This is a WWII era “Victory” model .38 Special revolver, that if made today would be known as a Model 10. This Revolver is in solid mechanical shape, but lacks something cosmetically. If you need a revolver for your cabin, boat, tractor or truck this may be just what you’re looking for. It still does everything a .38 Special double action revolver is supposed to do, the nickel plating will help in protecting it from rust and you’re not paying for a fancy finish that is only going to get dinged or beat up rattling around in your tool or tackle box .
