The underside of the grip frame in front of the trigger guard is marked “54598”. The underside of the frame and the underside of the barrel at the frame are both marked “B54598” and with 2 Italian proof marks. The underside of the frame is also marked with an “AU” date code and an unidentified symbol. The cylinder is engraved with a naval battle scene.

Sights / Optics: The rear sight on this revolver is a V notched hammer. The front sight is a brass blade that tapers to a thin edge on the top.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are one piece hardwood with a medium brown color and lacquered finish. The grips show light handling marks, plus compression marks on the bottom of the left grip and scratches near the top of the left grip. The grips rate in about Fine overall condition.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 85% of its metal finish. The barrel shows light handling marks with a large spot of pinprick surface erosion on the right side of the barrel at the muzzle and light pitting just in front of the cylinder on the right side. The hammer shows pitting on both sides and the cylinder shows light compression marks near its front edge and a spot of pinprick surface erosion in the sail area of one of the warships. The loading lever shows wear on its sides where the ram pivots. The brass of the grip frame is tarnished in the trigger guard area, around the back of the hammer and on the bottom of the grip frame. The cylinder does not have a drag line. The frame screw heads show marks of a screwdriver while the grip frame screws are disfigured. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Very Good condition.

+ Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lockup is SOLID and the trigger pull is crisp. We did not fire this revolver.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None

Our Assessment: This is a nice black powder revolver that someone has cared for well. There is some question as to the quality of Armi San Marco revolvers, but this seems to be very well made. It also begs the question: Why is it that an Italian manufacturer that is no longer in business can make a 24 year old revolver with solid lockup and no drag line on the cylinder when Ruger, Smith & Wesson and Colt haven’t been able to very often (Colt Pythons being one exception, but even they get drag lines?) If you are into black powder, this .36 caliber revolver should give many years of enjoyment. It can be used for informal plinking or take it out to a Cowboy Action match and have some real fun.

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This Antique classified single action percussion revolver CAN be transferred as a dealer sale in California and CAN be sold as a Private Party Transfer (PPT) at our Simi Valley shop. This does not apply to out of state residents.
