Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows thinning on the top of the frame. There are many scattered freckles of surface rust and erosion. An attempt at cleaning this was made at the left side of the barrel at the forend and the top of the frame. This was a symptom of storing the rifle in a cloth case for too long . . . The plating is beginning to flake a bit on the cap. If not for the storage damage, this would be a very sharp rifle. The screw heads are crisp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
Our Assessment: This is a highly sought after lever action .22 rifle, from a limited production run. The Marlin Model 39 has served generations of shooter and hunters, and this one will serve the next generation with a bit of class. The condition flaws are simply cosmetic and this will make a fun gun to shoot.
