Our Assessment: Sako first started making rifles with FN Mauser actions in 1951. By 1961 they had settled on 3 different length actions. The long action designation, L61R, was changed to AIII around 1978. The Sako action on this rifle was re-barreled to .308 Norma Mag. and restocked with a beautiful fiddleback patterned wood. The belted .308 Norma Magnum was first brought out in 1960, but lost popularity when the .300 Win. Mag. came out in 1963. If you can’t find ammo in this caliber, you can always make your own by resizing .300 Win. Mag. brass. While it isn’t quite as powerful as the .300 Win. Mag., the Norma round still offers 2950 fps. performance with a 180 grain bullet, out-classing the .30-06 Springfield at 2700 fps. This is a beautiful looking engraved rifle in great condition and will make someone a nice rifle for elk and for long range shots on deer and antelope.
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This rifle can be transferred in California.
