Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “HENRY REPEATING ARMS CO. / MADE IN U.S.A. BKLYN N.Y.” The right side is marked “CAL. 22 L.R.”. The tang to the rear of the trigger is marked with the serial number. The butt stock is marked “Marlin”.
Barrel Length: 18 ½”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade screwed into the base. This rifle is mounted with a “U” notched rear elevator sight mounted in a dovetail, on a serrated ramp. The receiver is grooved for an integral scope mount.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece stock is dark hardwood. The buttstock has a pistol grip and a thin black plastic buttplate with a “Marlin” logo. The forend is held with a steel barrel band. The stock has numerous scratches and compression marks throughout. The buttstock has several small gouges on the right side as well as several scratches varying from 2 – 4” long. There are similar elongated scratches and small gouges on the forearm as well. It appears the buttstock was cut down and a Marlin butt plate was fitted to the stock. The LOP measures 11 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the butt plate. The stocks rate in about Good overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue and Painted
Finish Originality: The bluing is original; the paint was applied over the bluing.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is shallow. There is fouling and some erosion present on the lands and grooves. The bore needs a good cleaning.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 50% of its metal finish. There is an area of wear through the bluing on the top of the barrel and small scratches on the magazine tubes left side below this. There are wear marks from the lever striking the rear tang of the receiver. There is a ¾” scratch and smaller scratches on the underside of the receiver. The receiver has been painted gold and covers areas of wear and rust. Rusting can be seen below the paint, as can some scratches. There numerous small scratches and deep gouges on the right side of the receiver. The screw heads are disfigured. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fair condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle.

Our Assessment: This Henry .22 lever action has seen better days, but it would make a great project for you and your son or grandson. The stock has been shortened which makes it an ideal .22 for a youngster. You can still shoot .22 while you decide whether to refinish the stock or receiver.
