Markings: The right side of the barrel is marked “Dan Wesson Arms / .44 Magnum Ctg.”. The right side of the frame is marked “Dan Wesson Arms / Monson, Mass. U.S.A. / 015283”.
Barrel Length: The heavy underlug vent ribbed barrel is 6”. The barrel is not ported, but the barrel shroud is.
Sights / Optics: The revolver is mounted with a rear sight adjustable for windage and elevation and a red ramped replaceable front sight. The top of the frame and barrel are matted to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is one piece checkered black rubber with bronze “Pachmayr” medallions on both sides. The front of the grips are smooth and without finger grooves. There were no deformities noted. The checkering is sharp. The grips rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is shiny and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% of its metal finish. The remainder shows light handling marks and a light drag line on the cylinder. The elevation screw head is sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The double action trigger is Very smooth, and in single action it is light and crisp. The cylinder lockup is Very tight. The action functions properly. We have not fired this revolver.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a box with an extra 6” ported stainless steel barrel, a .006” cylinder gap shim, a hex wrench, a cleaning brush and paperwork. The barrel is bright with slight wear in the rifling and very light erosion just behind the ports. The barrel is in Very Good overall condition. The hex wrench, shim and cleaning brush are in Excellent condition. The box is Styrofoam with a cardboard sleeve. The sleeve is marked “Dan Wesson” in white on a black oval background. The sleeve has pieces of adhesive tape on the top, and shows wear on the edges. The corners are intact without tears. The box has a factory end flap that correctly describes the model, finish chambering and barrel configuration. The Serial Number is written by hand, but appears to be authentic. The lid has adhesive tape affixed, with compression marks on the surface. The edges have broken pieces missing and one edge has a long piece which is cracked but not broken. The bottom of the box has multiple compression marks on its surface. There is no damage to the inside. Overall, the box is in Good condition. The paperwork consists of a Warranty Card, an Instruction Booklet, and a letter from Dan Wesson Arms describing the “Power Control” vented barrel and the unvented barrel, and indicating that only jacketed bullets should be used with the vented barrel. The paperwork is all in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: Wow! The action on this revolver is as good or better than most S&W’s, and is close to that of a Colt Python. This revolver is too big for a carry gun, but would be great for home protection and hunting small to medium size game.
