High Bidder in an auction when it closes, don't assume you're the final High Bidder.
Someone could outbid you in the final seconds of the auction if your Max Bid isn't
high enough. You're not the high Bidder until you've been notified by email that
you are. All Auctions are conducted in Pacific Time.
1953 Weatherby Southgate MK-V Deluxe FN Mauser .257 Wby. Mag.
This auction is for a Weatherby Southgate Mark V Deluxe .257 Weatherby Magnum caliber made in 1953 based on the serial number (C&R eligible). This vintage Mark V has an FN Mauser action and is a very nice rifle. There are some very minor handling marks on the beautifully finished pistol grip Monte Carlo checkered stock (see photos). There is some blue thinning on sharp edges of the receiver, the bolt handle and more wear on the floor plate & trigger guard and some thinning on the forward part of the barrel and at the muzzle. The action is smooth and the bore is excellent shinny with sharp pronounced rifling. It has Jaeger adjustable trigger set at a crisp 2 3/4 lb. pull. This rifle has a tapered 26" chrome lined barrel (free flosted), OAL = 46 1/2", LOP = 13 1/2" and weight ~8 1/2 lbs. It is equipped with a Nickel 4-10X scope. The scope finish is worn on the objective bell. The reticule is a very fine cross hair with a very small dot. Nickel scopes are considered to be high end and are only available from the factory. Nickel AG is a member of the Gerhardt Group and is located in Naumburg, Hessen Germany. It will shoot 1 moa groups at 100 yards. If you are a fancier of fine Weatherby rifles, especially the vintage Weatherby, take a close look at this one.
PLEASE READ THE PAYMENT & SHIPPING INFORMATION POSTED AT THE END OF THE AUCTION. IT MAY SAVE TIME FOR BOTH OF US.
BEFORE YOU ASK WHAT THE RESERVE IS, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING…
We do not disclose the Reserve on our “RESERVE AUCTIONS” because doing so defeats the purpose of the auction. Disclosing makes it a “Sale”, not an auction, much like a classified listing. Most of the firearms we offer at auction are on consignment with us from one of our clients. Our commitment to our clients is to obtain the highest fair market price possible for their firearms. Thus, we prefer the Reserve Auction and the “HAGGLE” feature offered by Auction Arms. About 50% of our sales are completed via the Haggle. In a Reserve auction if the high bidder does not reach the reserve buy to end the auction the high bidder or the seller may institute what Auction Arms calls a Haggle a one-on-one exchange between buyer and seller to try and come to a mutual agreement on a price. If you are not familiar with the Haggle process, click on Auction Arms “Help & Info” for complete details. For those items that are not on consignment we usually offer a convenient “Buy-It-Now” price.
