Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Ballester-Molina -- .45 ACP caliber Semi-Automatic Pistol

Ballester-Molina .45 ACP caliber Semi-Automatic Pistol

This auction is for a Ballester-Molina .45 ACP caliber semi-automatic single action pistol. This pistol is in NRA Fine condition. It has a 5 inch barrel, one 7 round magazine and OAL is ~8”. There is some thinning of the blued finish and some wear showing on the wood grip panels. Very tight slide, crisp trigger and good bore, shinny with good sharp rifling. The rear sight is dinged up (see photos). The magazine SR # does not match the pistols SR #. Should be a good shooter. This pistol has Argentine Navy markings (ARMADA NACIONAL). Importer was New Helvetia Mercantile Corporation (NHM CO SAC. CA) of Sacramento, CA. This pistol is C&R eligible.

The Ballester-Molina was used by Argentina's security forces. The Argentine Army adopted it in 1938. The Ballester-Molina is a short recoil-operated semi-automatic locked breech pistol. The locking system is a near identical copy of the Colt M1911A1, with the swinging lock used to unlock the barrel from the slide. The trigger is single action, two stage, but pivots rather than slides like the 1911 trigger. The hammer is locked by the frame-mounted manual safety, and there is no grip safety. Generally the quality of Ballester-Molina pistols is excellent. Many examples for sale on the surplus market have seen heavy use, but show little internal wear.

The Ballester-Molina is more of a replica of the Spanish Star pistol than it is of the M1911A1 Colt, but was manufactured in .45 ACP. It has a few parts, such as barrel, magazine, and recoil spring, interchangeable with the M1911. The Ballester-Molina is a very well made and very accurate pistol, which can successfully compete with any .45 semi-auto pistol manufactured in the same time period.

Ballester-Molina’s were manufactured in Buenos Aires Argentina by HAFDASA (Hispano Argentina Fábrica de Automotores Sociedad Anonima) between 1938 and 1953. Somewhere between 90,000 & 120,000 were made between 1937 & 1953.

RESERVE AUCTIONS:

We do not disclose the Reserve on our “RESERVE AUCTIONS” because doing so defeats the purpose of the auction. Disclosing makes it a “Sale”, not an auction, much like a classified listing. Most of the firearms we offer at auction are on consignment with us from one of our clients. Our commitment to our clients is to obtain the highest fair market price possible for their firearms. Thus, we prefer the Reserve Auction and the “HAGGLE” feature offered by Auction Arms. About 50% of our sales are completed via the Haggle. In a Reserve auction if the high bidder does not reach the reserve buy to end the auction the high bidder or the seller may institute what Auction Arms calls a Haggle a one-on-one exchange between buyer and seller to try and come to a mutual agreement on a price. If you are not familiar with the Haggle process, click on Auction Arms “Help & Info” for complete details. For those items that are not on consignment we usually offer a convenient “Buy-It-Now” price.

We are GOLDEN BEAR SERVICES, INC., a Federally Licensed Firearms Dealer in the Denver Metro area. We market exclusively on Auction Arms (since 02-23-1999) and our feedback exceeds 1200 positives. We list on our auctions a variety of offerings including firearms, ammunition, reloading tools & supplies and other accessories we pick up from clients who are interested in liquidating their firearms collections. We are also stocking dealers for a variety of “Mil Spec” manufacturers (such as Rock River & STAG) of quality AR15 & AR10 firearms and accessories including Uppers, Lowers, Parts Kits, barrels, stocks, mags, complete firearms and anything else we think you might be interested in.
