Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Custom Remington 1917 -- Sporterized .308 Norma Mag. Bolt Action Rifle

LSB#: 120907AH07

Make: Remington

Model: 1917

Serial Number: 206355

Year of Manufacture: Circa 1917. This rifle has been re-barreled and requires an FFL for transfer.

Caliber: .308 Norma Magnum

Action Type: Bolt Action, Internal Magazine

Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “.308 Norma Mag”. The top of the receiver is marked “U.S. / Model of 1917 / Remington / 206355”.

Barrel Length: 26”

Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted without iron sights. There are no drilled or tapped holes in the barrel. The receiver ring and rear bridge ARE drilled and tapped.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are smooth uncheckered wood with cheekpiece, palm swell and pistol grip. The finish has been disturbed/removed on both sides of the action above the floorplate. It appears that some type of solvent was used which “ate” the finish clear coat. There are several scattered dings and scratches and a pretty good dent on the cheekpiece and on the bottom of the stock ahead of the rear sling swivel. The stock appears to be bedded, and whatever solvent was used to remove the excess bedding compound from the stock has taken off the finish on both sides of the action. The LOP measures approx. 14” from the trigger to the back of the rubber Whiteline buttpad. The buttpad is stiff. The stocks rate in about Good overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: The barrel may be original but the action has been re-blued and the bolt jeweled.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp and deep. There is no apparent erosion.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 80% of its metal re-finish. The balance of the finish shows scratches and marks on the left side of the barrel at the stock line. The bedding compound has overflowed onto the barrel. There is some discoloration and minor marks on the receiver where there were once scope bases. The Screw heads are serviceable and show damage. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. The trigger pull is light perhaps 2 lbs. There is a trigger shoe installed.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Sling swivel studs are provided, and a trigger shoe is installed.

Our Assessment: This is an unfinished project that just needs a little clean up. The caliber is the hot rod .308 Norma Magnum mounted in a very strong action and a comfortable stock. Someone went through a lot of effort to create this “ultimate” HUNTING RIFLE. Finish the project and bring home the trophies!

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This rifle can be transferred in California.
