Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “30-30” with an oval “SAP” proofmark. The right side is marked “Hi-Pressure Steel – Proof Tested”. The top of the barrel is marked “Savage”, “Savage Arms Corporation / Utica, N.Y. Made In U.S.A.”. The left side of the receiver is marked “Savage / Super Sporter / 13824”. The magazine is marked “30-30”.

Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a flat topped “U” notched rear ladder sight dovetailed into the barrel and a bead front sight dovetailed into a finely serrated ramp that is part of the barrel. The receiver has a flat top with serrations toreduce glare..
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one piece dark wood with a satin finish. It has a smooth pistol grip and a serrated curved steel buttplate marked with a “SVG” logo. There are swing swivel studs attached at the front and rear. The left side of the buttstock has “Hap Wallace” scratched into the finish. The pistol grip just behind the trigger guard is stamped “2500”. There are numerous handling marks on the stock but no cracks nor chips. There is darkening around the trigger guard and the receiver. The buttplate shows thinning and has spots of pinprick surface erosion. The screws are undamaged. The LOP measures 13 3/4”. The stocks rate in about Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 60% of its metal finish. There is wear at the muzzle and the top of the front sight. The barrel has a small spot of surface damage 1 1/2” behind the front sight, and there is pinprick surface erosion around the slot in the rear sight base. The receiver has surface damage just over the lettering on the left side. The rest of the receiver and the bolt handle show thinning and isolated spots of pinprick surface erosion. The screw heads are undamaged, as are the serrations on the bolt knob. The magazine has wear at its top, along with pinprick surface erosion on its bottom surface and sides just above the bottom lip. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good - Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle.

Our Assessment: This is a somewhat uncommon bolt action rifle with a great looking bore. This will make someone a great deer rifle, using a cartridge that has killed more deer in the United States than any other.
