Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “”Winchester --Model 94 30-30 Win / Made In New Haven, Conn. U.S.A. Winchester Proof Steel”. The top of the barrel is marked with a proof stamp. The right side of the barrel is marked ”Antlered Game”. The tang is marked “Model 1894 / Winchester”. The bottom of the receiver is marked “AG02231”.

Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a “U” notched rear ladder sight and a blade front sight. Both are dovetailed into the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are checkered, dark walnut with an oil finish and nice grain. The buttstock has a crescent blued metal buttplate, a straight grip and a gold medallion on the right side with antlered elk. The forend has a gold plated barrel band. The buttstock has minor handling marks on the left side plus one deeper mark on the bottom just behind the wrist checkering. The forend is undamaged. The checkering on the buttstock and the forend shows little if any wear. The buttplate is a high luster blue, and has a slight scratch midway between the two mounting screws. The screws themselves are undamaged. The LOP measures 13 3/8”. The stocks rate in about Fine-Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: The round barrel, magazine tube, bolt, trigger, hammer, and loading gate have a deep blue finish. The receiver, forend and magazine barrel band and trigger assembly are gold plated. The sides of the receiver are engraved with Elk, Moose, Deer and Caribou, with leaf and vine highlights.
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is wear on the front barrel band and on the lever just below the hinged action bar. The action bar has a scratch 1” in front of the lever slot, and wear behind the lever slot. The receiver shows a slight mar in the finish on the left side 1” below the hammer. The Screw heads are undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: This rifle is missing the firing pin. Otherwise, the action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle.

Our Assessment: This commemorative carbine was only made in 1978, with a total run of 19,999 units. The grain on the wood plus the gold plating make this a beautiful rifle. Please see our pictures of this handsome rifle. It is certainly in collectable condition.
