The checkering is sharp but has been varnished over. The end cap has some residue/scratching. There are no cracks or losses. The buttplate does not fit too well, and there are several unfilled holes in the stock; one at the forend and one at the buttplate. The LOP measures approx. 14” from the trigger to the back of the plastic “Herters” buttplate. The stocks rate in about Good overall condition. There is a screw missing in the trigger guard.

Bore Condition: The bore is dull and the rifling is somewhat shallow. There is erosion in the bore. Several patches came out dirty, and a further cleaning will likely improve this bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 30% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows most of the remaining original finish under the original wood. The metal on the barrel and receiver has thinned and is now mostly gray, as is the trigger guard and floorplate. The Screw heads are sharp and not disfigured. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good overall condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
Our Assessment: This is the FN Belgian manufactured original .30-06 Mauser delivered to Colombia in 1950. It has an intact crest. This rifle is in the standard U.S. rifle caliber and much hunting ammo is available. This may prove to be a good back-up or second rifle this hunting season.
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This C&R rifle can be transferred in California.
