Buyer Tip: If you're the
High Bidder in an auction when it closes, don't assume you're the final High Bidder.
Someone could outbid you in the final seconds of the auction if your Max Bid isn't
high enough. You're not the high Bidder until you've been notified by email that
you are. All Auctions are conducted in Pacific Time.
M.A.V.I di Salvinelli .410 ga. Single Shot Folding Shotgun
This auction is for a M.A.V.I di Salvinelli .410 ga. Single Shot Folding Shotgun imported by DAKIN GUN COMPANY of San Francisco, CA. From our research R. Dakin Co. originated in Missouri (Kansas City or St. Louis) in the early 1950’s and moved to San Francisco in the mid 1950’s. They imported mostly shotguns made in Spain and Italy among other guns and non-firearm items. They disappeared in the mid to late 1960’s.
This shotgun is described as a folding gun with pull-back snap-action under lever, blonde checkered pistol grip stock with fluted ebonite pistol grip-cap and butt plate, blonde checkered forend, blued vent rib barrel (reportedly made by Bohler Blitz based on the shape) with octagonal breech section engraved M.A.V.I. di Salvinelli, Gardone V.T., Brescia on the right side and marked DAKIN GUN COMPANY San Francisco, U.S.A. on the left. The receiver is engraved and is plated either with nickel or chrome (it’s not silver). It has a push button safety. The stock (wood not known) is sound with some minor marks and some checking of the finish. The blued metal is ~90%. There are a couple of spots where the blue is worn especially on the left side at the muzzle (see photos). The bore is excellent. The action is smooth and locks up tight. The barrel is 24 ¾”, the OAL is 41”, the LOP is 14” and weight is ~4 lbs. It is a very nice looking gun in very good condition.
PLEASE READ THE PAYMENT & SHIPPING INFORMATION POSTED AT THE END OF THE AUCTION. IT MAY SAVE TIME FOR BOTH OF US.
BEFORE YOU ASK WHAT THE RESERVE IS, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING…
We do not disclose the Reserve on our “RESERVE AUCTIONS” because doing so defeats the purpose of the auction. Disclosing makes it a “Sale”, not an auction, much like a classified listing. Most of the firearms we offer at auction are on consignment with us from one of our clients. Our commitment to our clients is to obtain the highest fair market price possible for their firearms. Thus, we prefer the Reserve Auction and the “HAGGLE” feature offered by Auction Arms. About 50% of our sales are completed via the Haggle. In a Reserve auction if the high bidder does not reach the reserve buy to end the auction the high bidder or the seller may institute what Auction Arms calls a Haggle a one-on-one exchange between buyer and seller to try and come to a mutual agreement on a price. If you are not familiar with the Haggle process, click on Auction Arms “Help & Info” for complete details. For those items that are not on consignment we usually offer a convenient “Buy-It-Now” price.
