German MAUSER Model 98. Has the 43 byf marking meaning it was manufactured in Oberndorf, Germany. At the end of World War II the Oberndorf factory was hit by the bombing campaign and dismantled by the Occupation Forces. As is typical with battle rifles, all serial numbers do not match since parts were replaced as necessary during the War. The serial numbers on the floorplate and forend cap match, while there are different serial numbers on the bolt and on the receiver. There are two NAZI German inspection marks on the rifle. Both marks are the eagle and swastika encircled. I tried to photograph them but could not get a good picture. There is NOT an import mark since this is a veteran's trophy brought back from the War. We only accept US Postal Service Money Orders so that we can ship promptly upon receipt.
