The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Apparently Professionally Restored. The finish is just too good, though there are none of the usual signs of a refinish. No pitting, erosion or tooling marks can be seen under the finish and the lettering is quite good.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no apparent erosion or pitting ion the bore, and just a hint of dulling. This is a 9-9.5 / 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows a touch of thinning at the edges of the barrel flats. The hammer shows light wear from operation, otherwise this rifle looks almost new. There is truly no additional wear. The Screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear and appropriately deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
Our Assessment: This is a beautiful rifle, and from the curios and collectible very late period of 1890 production. This rifle is deeply hand engraved, with spectacular wood. If indeed refinished, the work was done so very professionally and in a way that makes it extremely difficult to tell. Restored or not, this is still one of the best 1890's you could buy and certainly the best looking.
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This C&R rifle can be transferred in California.
