How did Winchester get the .308 Win into their lever gun? Simple, they put a rim on it and called it the .307! The Model 94 headspaces on the rim - gotta have it. Unfinished .308 cases were tested, and when a design was chosen cases were made with no headstamp for ballistic lab testing. From an old-time Winchester engineer comes this example of the unheadstamped round, still in excellent condition. A rare one for the advanced Winchester collector.
