Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Remington Model 11-48 -- 16 Gauge Semi-Auto Shotgun - Mf'd 1952 - C&R OK

LSB#: 120611JM08

Make: Remington

Model: 11-48

Serial Number: 5526167

Year of Manufacture: August 1952, the barrel code is marked "WYY"

Caliber: 16 GA.

Action Type: Semi-Auto Shotgun

Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked "16 Ga. for 2 3/4" or Shorter Shells", and "Full", "WYY". The right side of the barrel is marked "Remington Arms Co. Inc. Ilion N.Y. Made in U.S.A. / Patent No. 2,278, 589 Others Pending" and "REP" in an oval. The left side of the receiver is marked "Remington / MODEL 11-48" and the serial number.

Barrel Length: 28". Full Choke.

Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a bead front sight.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock(s) is/are wood in Very Good condition. There are very few nicks and marks, primarily to the surface and no major cracks or losses. The finish shows almost no wear, and little age. There is a Remington butt plate installed, making the the LOP about 13 7/8". Thecheckering is still sharp for press checkering.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: All Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, though just a bit dirty. This should clean up well with little effort. There is no apparent erosion.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows just minor wear to the edges, and a nick or two in the finish. The top of the frame shows the most wear (left side), though there are only a few storage marks here. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this shotgun.

Box & Accessories: None

Our Assessment: This is a well cared for old Remington, that is as pleasing to look at as it will be to shoot. Everyone is familiar with the 1100 and this is it's predecessor. The condition is very good for both the external finish and the bore, the stock has a few light dings, but what a great package this is! If you can use a good solid 16 Ga. Remington, with a bit of collector interest, this is it.

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This shotgun can be transferred in California and is C & R eligible.
