LSB#: 120611JM03
Make: Steyr
Model: 1895
Serial Number: 7080N
Year of Manufacture: Early 1900’s, Perhaps 1901
Caliber: 8mm/ 6.5 Dutch/ or .311. We tried a .303 British round and the bolt will not close. The bolt does close on a .303 Savage. We are not 100% certain of the correct round for this rifle. We understand that this action was originally a 6.5 Dutch which is a necked down and shortened 303 British. The barrel is an Enfield barrel and is probably .311 diameter with 5 groove rifling typical of British Enfields. We tried a .30-40 Krag case which seats but the bolt will not close probably due to rim thickness.
