Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Winchester Model 12 -- 12 Gauge Pump Action Shotgun - 1962 C&R OK

LSB#: 120607HS03

Make: Winchester

Model: 12

Serial Number: 1943701

Year of Manufacture: 1962

Caliber: 12 gauge with 2 ¾” Chamber

Action Type: It is a pump action with 6 shot magazine tube (when plug is removed).

Markings: The barrel is marked with “Winchester / Trademark / Made In U.S.A. – Model 12 / Winchester – 12 GA –2 ¾ Cham. / Winchester Proof Steel / FULL”. The bottom of the barrel extension and the receiver are marked with the serial number “1943701”. The magazine tube and barrel extension are marked with alignment arrows. The top of the receiver and barrel both have a Winchester “WP” proof symbol.

Barrel Length: 28

Choke: Full

Sights / Optics: The rear sight is matting at the top of the receiver and the front sight is a gold bead.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are plain wood with a pistol grip and 14 ring forend. There are no cracks or chips and only one minor surface mar near the right hand pistol grip and a black paint mark on the bottom of the stock near the buttplate. The Winchers buttplate is plastic. The LOP measures 13 ¾”. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: All Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 95% of its metal finish. A small scratch on the left side of the receiver and a scratch on the right side of the barrel just behind the magazine band are the only blemishes other than the 9 digit number having been etched into the bottom of the receiver near the serial number. There is some discoloration (frosting) on the bottom of the carrier and the right side of the bolt. The screw heads are as new. The markings are sharp and clear. Overall, this gun rates in about Fine - Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The barrel/receiver fit is exceptionally tight, as if it were never taken apart. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None

Our Assessment: This shotgun was named the “Perfect Repeater” at its introduction in 1912, and was the first truly successful internal hammer pump-action shotgun ever produced. It has an extremely smooth action, and only went out of production because it was too expensive to manufacture compared to Remington’s 870. This shotgun is very clean and would make a perfect gift for a young hunter.

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This C&R shotgun can be transferred in California.
