Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a protected post front sight in a dovetail slot and a slide adjustable rear sight with anti-aircraft wings intact.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are smooth standard military stocks. There are a few surface gouges on the right forend hand groove and some heavy marks on the right side of the pistol grip and scattered dings and compression marks. However there is finish remaining on the stock and there are no cracks. The is one of the better condition Arisaka stocks we have seen. The LOP measures approx. 12 ¾”. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Some finish looks original, some looks refinished. The MUM has been touched up and there is pitting under the finish of the trigger guard.
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp and deep. There is some minor erosion in the grooves. This is a great condition military bore..
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows thinning on the receiver and wear marks on the bolt. The MUM has been ground off and the finish re-blued with touch up . The metal surfaces show few marks and even the bolt handle is shiny. The trigger guard has pitting under the blue. The muzzle end of the barrel looks very good and may have been refinished. The Screw heads are serviceable and show use/disfiguration. The markings are clear except for the MUM. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. The magazine follower has been replaced with a flat piece of metal which is functional.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The cleaning rod is present.
Our Assessment: This is one of the major battle rifles of WWII. The Arisaka is a tough rifle and has aged well. This particular rifle has a good bore and good wood, a cleaning rod and anti-aircraft wings on the rear sight. If you are a collector or a WWII re-enactor this is a rifle for you.
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This C&R rifle can be transferred in California.
