Bore Condition: The bore is semi shiny though a bit fouled and the rifling is deep. There is no mentionable erosion. The bore could probably use a good deep cleaning.
Overall Condition: This gun retains about 40% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows wear from use storage and handling. The front of the barrel beyond the wood shows considerable loss to the finish and has very minor pitting. There is general thinning, handling wear and discoloration. The Screw heads are very good and serviceable with only minor disfiguration. The markings are stamped clearly in most areas but poorly on a few. Overall, this gun rates in about Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this gun.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
Our Assessment: This is an original “Jungle Carbine” head to toe, not a copy or fake. Made at the end of the big one, these were used in the jungles of Africa, where the rifles would have been too long. It’s features are: 20” barrel, flash hider (sure to scare California lawmakers into thinking it is an assault rifle), rear rubber butt plate, and intricate rear sight. This is my favorite of all the Enfields and there are many. The rubber butt pad was designed to absorb some of the recoil of this lighter rifle, but I think it now has a higher Rockwell reading than the steal beneath it. These were made only for a couple of years so here is your chance to get one before they become even harder to find.
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This rifle can be transferred anywhere in California, and is C&R eligible.
