High Bidder in an auction when it closes, don't assume you're the final High Bidder.
Someone could outbid you in the final seconds of the auction if your Max Bid isn't
high enough. You're not the high Bidder until you've been notified by email that
you are. All Auctions are conducted in Pacific Time.
D. Leonard & Son 20 ga. Percussion Double Barrel shotgun
This auction is for a Black Powder percussion double barrel 20 ga. shotgun made by D. Leonard & Son, Birmingham, England. There address from at least 1876 until 1890 was 90A & 90B Ashton St, Birmingham and records show the company was still in business in 1914. W.J. Jeffery's famous double rifles were often made by the family-operated firm of D. Leonard and Sons. There are no identifying numbers or proof marks that we could see so year of manufacture is unknown. The gun is fitted with English Bar Locks with English Express style hammers. The hammers are functional and springs are quite strong. Barrels are 33” and appear to be steel (not laminated or Damascus); finish is brown patina. Bores are dark with some light surface rust. The stock appears to be walnut and looks like it was refinished at some point. Furniture is brass engraved with foliate and floral details. OAL is ~48”, LOP is ~12” & 13”.
PLEASE READ THE PAYMENT & SHIPPING INFORMATION POSTED AT THE END OF THE AUCTION. IT MAY SAVE TIME FOR BOTH OF US.
BEFORE YOU ASK WHAT THE RESERVE IS, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING…
RESERVE AUCTIONS:
We do not disclose the Reserve on our “RESERVE AUCTIONS” because doing so defeats the purpose of the auction. Disclosing makes it a “Sale”, not an auction, much like a classified listing. Most of the firearms we offer at auction are on consignment with us from one of our clients. Our commitment to our clients is to obtain the highest fair market price possible for their firearms. Thus, we prefer the Reserve Auction and the “HAGGLE” feature offered by Auction Arms. About 50% of our sales are completed via the Haggle. In a Reserve auction if the high bidder does not reach the reserve buy to end the auction the high bidder or the seller may institute what Auction Arms calls a Haggle a one-on-one exchange between buyer and seller to try and come to a mutual agreement on a price. If you are not familiar with the Haggle process, click on Auction Arms “Help & Info” for complete details. For those items that are not on consignment we usually offer a convenient “Buy-It-Now” price.
We are GOLDEN BEAR SERVICES, INC., a Federally Licensed Firearms Dealer in the Denver Metro area. We market exclusively on Auction Arms (since 02-23-1999) and our feedback exceeds 1100 positives. We list on our auctions a variety of offerings including firearms, ammunition, reloading tools & supplies and other accessories we pick up from clients who are interested in liquidating their firearms collections. We are also stocking dealers for a variety of “Mil Spec” manufacturers (such as Rock River & STAG) of quality AR15 & AR10 firearms and accessories including Uppers, Lowers, Parts Kits, barrels, stocks, mags, complete firearms and anything else we think you might be interested in.

SAFETY NOTICE:
Buyer is solely responsible for determining that a used gun is safe to shoot. The firearms offered have not been test fired. Whether purchased here or somewhere else we urge every buyer to have any used firearm they purchase inspected by a qualified gunsmith before firing.
PAYMENT & SHIPPING:
You are bidding on a D. Leonard & Son 20 ga. Black Powder percussion double barrel shotgun in good condition. Buyer pays shipping which includes packaging, carrier fees and insurance. Payment can be Money Order, Cashier’s Check or Personal Check, which must clear before shipping (allow 10 days). In spite of the fact that this is a black powder firearm, we prefer to ship only to a licensed FFL or C&R Dealer. However, we do have a "waiver" form and we will ship to the transferee directly, where legal, once we have a signed "waiver" and proof of age (18 years or older for long guns) and residency (a copy of your valid driver’s license or birth certificate). Shipping is by UPS Ground with an estimated cost of approx. $23.00 to $35.00 depending on package weight, your address within your ZIP Code and insured value in the lower 48 states. Know your local laws before bidding, especially if you are a resident of CA, CT, DC, NY, NJ, HI, IL, MA, MD.
