Questions for Users
(Public)
Q:  What is the condition of the bore? If you put two dummy shells in the mag tube with the action pick them out of the mag tube, chamber them and extract and eject them? Thanks. 06/27/2012
A:  Benn out of town today. Will may sure tomorrow but I think it functions fine. Thank you foe the question. Will get back to you tomorrow. Charles 06/27/2012

A:  Hi Outlaw Gambler, The '97 has a wooden plug in the mag tube and takes two shells in the mag. It extracts and ejects fine. The pump action is a little stiff at the beginning of travel when you use the side push button to release it. Pull trigger & pump and it has no hesitation. I mention the tool marks just forward of the barrel in the description. The barrel alignment marks on the barrel & receiver are lined up. But, where the barrel meets the receiver, I can read a 1 and only half of a 2 for the 12 ga. marking and below it I read FUL and only part of the final L for Full Choke. I have not fired the shotgun. Bore looks Ok, normal for 82 years. Thank you for the question, I hope this helps. 06/29/2012

Q:  TO CHASLANE Regarding item# 11144407 the model 97 winchester,The discolored piece on the back of the stock,is it a piece that has been glued on or has it discolored because of a slip on recoil pad?THANK YOU 06/27/2012
A:  Yes, the discoloration is from a slip-on recoil pad. The steel butt plate is missing. I ordered one from Brownells but it does not fit correctly. I will send it along with the gun when it is bought. A gunsmith may be able to fit it. Thanks for the question. Charles 06/27/2012

Q:  TO CHASLANE Can you tell me how the chamber and bore are on this WINCHESTER MODEL 97 THANK YOU 07/01/2012
A:  Hello. Thank you for the interest. The bore & chamber of the '97 appears to be as expected for a shotgun that was used for 72 years. It has a wooden plug & holds two shells in the mag. It extracts and ejects fine but is a little stiff at initial pump pull when the button releases on the receiver sides are used. But, slides easily when trigger is pulled and pump is cycled. We have not fired the gun. 07/01/2012
