Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Sporterized Argentine Mauser -- 7.65x53mm 1909 Bolt Action Rifle, Scope - C&R OK

LSB#: 120412ML10

Make: Mauser / Argentino

Model: 1909

Serial Number: D8518

Year of Manufacture: 1910

Caliber: 7.65x53 Argentine

Action Type: Bolt Action, Internal Magazine

Markings: The left side of the receiver ring is marked “Mauser Modelo / Argentino 1909”, and the left side of the receiver is marked “Deutsche Waffen-Und / Munitions Fabriken. Berlin”. The right side of the barrel and receiver ring are marked “D8518”. There is an “O” on the back of the bolt, there are no other visible marks on the bolt. The trigger guard, ahead of the floor plate, is marked “N8364”. The left side of the barrel, about 17” back from the muzzle is marked “7.65”.

Barrel Length: 24”

a Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a “Kmart All Pro 4x32”. The original military front sight remains installed. The crosshairs are “duplex”, and the optics are clear. There are no dents or dings on the scope tube.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are nicely grained, sporterized, checkered, pistol grip style with cheek piece. The checkering is sharp. There are some surface scratches on the left side of the buttstock, below the bolt, and a scratches with some compression marks on the right side of the buttstock about three inches in front of the butt pad. Please see our photos. There are other minor surface scratches. The LOP measures approx. 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the rubber “Wiesbaden Gun Club” buttpad. The buttpad is soft and pliable with some aging cracks on the sides. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blue Receiver/ Black Coating on Barrel

Finish Originality: The barrel looks coated and so is not “as original”, but the receiver looks original blue.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp and deep. There is the usual gray color on the flats of military barrels but otherwise this is a great bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 75% of its barrel coated finish, and about 85% on the receiver blue. There are some “bald” spots on the barrel, about 7” back from the muzzle and on the left side at the muzzle. The receiver shows early signs of surface mottling on the left side, the metal is smooth but the surface is not, the right side shows minor thinning. The Screw heads are sharp, showing just minor use. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. Interesting, the muzzle crown is uniformly rounded in a mushroom shape. We have no information about this.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Sling swivels and a scope with mounts are provided.

Our Assessment: This model is often referred to as the best of the K98 style Mausers. This particular rifle is very nice looking with a very nicely grained stock and is already mounted with a scope, and has a good bore. This could be your new 2012 season hunting rifle, a strong action in a good caliber.

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This rifle can be transferred in California and is C&R eligible.
