NO RESERVE!! Here's an interesting antique! This is a small Side-by-Side percussion shotgun that is marked "THOMAS TYRER" on the locks. There were two Thomas Tyrer's, father and son, that worked as gunsmiths in Richmond, Virginia in the 1800's and this is likely one of their pieces. It is a "minature" or child's sized weapon. It is a 20-bore with barrels that measure 24" in length. The stock dimensions are also small, with the Length of Pull measuring 12-7/8" to the forward trigger. Weight is just 4-pounds, 11.5-ounces. Overall condition is good with the metal a smooth dark brown patina. There are a few dings and shallow dents in the barrels and rib, including a dent at the edge of the muzzle of the left barrel. The stock is sound and free of cracks or chips. The decorative wedge plate on the left side of the forend has been somewhat crudely repaired and there is a sling swivel hole behind the lower tang. The trigger guard has a brazed repair at the front of the loop. The locks work well and hold both half-cock and full-cock perfectly. The bores both show pitting. Comes with a brass tipped hickory ramrod. A neat old piece of Americana in generally good shape.
Buyer pays $25.00 shipping. This is an antique percussion shotgun and as such, no FFL is required for transfer and in most areas it can be shipped directly to the winning bidder. There are exceptions (New Jersey) where an FFL transfer may still be required. Please know your local laws before bidding. Bidder must be a minimum of 21 years old and willing to provide proof of age with payment.
