Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “Remington Arms Co. Inc. Ilion N.Y. Made in U.S.A. .243 Win.” and “AO” and some difficult to read letters. The right side of the barrel has the “REP” in an oval. The left side of the receiver is marked “A6404290” and “Mohawk -600”. The serial number is found on the frame.

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a Weaver K-4 on Buehler mounts. The scope is mostly clear with fine crosshairs. There is a black / gray occlusion in the upper left quadrant. This may be dirt. There are small visible nicks in both the front and rear glass. These are not visible through the scope. There are no nicks or dings in the external scope tube. The right lower side of the scope shows some surface rust. There are filled screw holes for a front sight
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are wood. There are no cracks or losses, but there is a longer depression on the right side of the forend, just below the metal. There are holes from where sling swivels were once installed. The LOP measures approx. 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the rubber “whiteline” buttpad. The rubber is soft and pliable. The stocks rate in about Good plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is some mild fouling or erosion near the breech, which should clean up well.
Overall Condition: This gun retains about 60% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows very light and scatterred surface rust on the barrel, scope and bolt. The barrel has scattered rust throughout. The right side of the scope and receiver are scattered with surface rust. The top of the receiver ring looks like it was crudely filed down to accept this scope mount. The finish is gone and you can see tool marks. There is surface rust on the visible portion of the bolt through the ejection port .The Screw heads are sharp and undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about Very Good condition. With some elbow grease and steel wool, the finish will improve. This rifle was just stored un-oiled.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle.

Our Assessment: This was an entry level Remington Bolt Action, brought out in the 70’s to compete with foreign manufactured hunting rifles. These rifles gained a good reputation for value and usefulness. The caliber, .243 Win, is one of the most leved in America and will make a great flast shooting round for you! The round is even known for its mild recoil, so here is the hunting companion for you or for your hunting companion!
