Questions for Users
(Public)
Q:  Why are the patent marks of 1972 and 1975 on the side, when if it were an original from 1881, they would not be there. Just wondering. 06/05/2012
A:  Thank you for the interesting note... however the patent markings are on ALL of the single action army revolvers. That is the date of the patents, not the date of manufacture. The serial number of this Colt SAA places its manufacture date in 1881. This is an original Colt, and they used to stamp patent dates on the side back in the day. 06/05/2012

Q:  SO how did they know in 1881, that patents would be approved in 1972 and 1975???? Makes no sense to me unless they had ESP? 06/07/2012
A:  In NO place on the gun does the patent date indicate that it was 1972 and 1975. In fact it says "Pat. Sept. 19. 1871." The other two dates underneath that are shortened in the year to indicate "July. 2. -72" and "Jan. 19. -75" which means 1872 and 1875. I am pretty sure they did not have ESP. 06/07/2012

    Q:  Why need FFL for pre-1898? 08/15/2012
A:  Company policy. I may consider C&R but with the amount of theft and dishonesty these days we just make it company policy to only ship to FFL. Thanks for the inquiry, happy bidding! 08/15/2012

Q:  Can you tell me if there is a stamp in the hammer slot and on the back of the cylinder?I get the same question on the Pat dates that you did, what a DA. Thanks, Hunter 08/29/2012
A:  There is a "H" stamped into the hammer slot/notch. The back of the cylinder has a "P" and a "4", not right next to each other. 08/29/2012
