Vintage 1954 Mod 52C Tgt.BBL w/Graduated Stock Offered herein for the avid target shooting
enthusiast is this excellent Winchester Model 52C
.22 caliber target rifle. This specimen, serial number 80431 was manufactured circa 1954. It is in excellent condition and retains virtually all of its
finish and has a MINT BORE. The classic
target rifle has the Model C’s heavy target barrel and comes with factory Lyman rear target peep sight and hooded front sight. It has only a couple of noticeable scratches which appear to have come from improper storage rather than use.
The “history” behind this fine piece is as follows.
The rifle comes from an individual who had acquired the gun when he was 13 over 55 years ago. It was gifted by his father and in a plan to have his son “grow into” the rifle he had a professional gunsmith separate the buttplate and 2-1/2” portion of the stock (with surgical precision) with the intention that he “graduate” to its full length when he
reached maturity. The rifle and portion of the stock was acquired by us and assigned to our inhouse gunsmith/restorer. He reattached the stock
precisely to marry the grain in appearance, using hickory rods drilled into the stock with strengthening adhesive such that the stock is as strong or even stronger than it was originally (requiring many hours of work). There is only a very slight line where
