Markings: The barrel is marked with a proof mark and “BO 131 / 337”. The top of the receiver ring is marked “93”, a crown and “DANZIG”, there is an unreadable number under the word “Danzig”. The back of the bolt has a “5” and perhaps a “+” sign. The left side of the receiver has a proofmark, which looks like flames with “35” underneath, and “337”, and “Kar 98”. The metal ahead of the floorplate is marked with two crown over “L” proofmarks and “9706”. The screw is numbered “97”. The floorplate is marked crown over “L” and “41”. There are three crown proof marks on the right side of the receiver ring.

Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a protected post front sight and a housing but no internals for the rear sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are replaced sporterized wood with cheek piece and checkering. The stock has numerous minor nicks and dings of which only two are notable, there is a small chip missing from the front of the rise at the comb, and there is a cutout behind the bolt. The stock was obviously adapted from another rifle and was fit to this one. There is a “V” shaped cutout behind the trigger guard. The cheek piece has a few chips in its outer edge. The LOP measures approx. 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the steel butt plate. The stocks rate in about Fair plus overall condition.
Type of Finish: No Finish Remains
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp and deep. There is some mild fouling but no apparent erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 0% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows smooth metal but surface erosion especially in front the rear sight.. There is also surface erosion on the bolt and some in the receiver area. The Screw heads are sharp and not disfigured. The markings mostly clear but the date below “Danzig “is not readable. Overall, this gun rates in about Fair condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. This rifle weighs approx. 6 pounds 3oz..

Our Assessment: What you have here is an incomplete project gun with a strong action and a great bore. This gun is powerful in 8MM and has been sporterized / lightened to make a field rifle. Finish this project and you will have a family heirloom.
