REMINGTON,rolling block,1871 single shot rifle,n.y.contract,50 center fire caliber.New York contract.36 inch barrel. bore is excellent being bright and shiny!all sights are original!finish on metal is a plumb brown and pewter gray patina.walnut stock rates very good with some dings and handling marks.barrel near breech has a number B23.receiver has a number 6,also a number 6 on butt stock above cartouche mark.metal butt plate has a#74 and letter K.sling swevile is dated 1866.A very nice old rolling block,should make a good shooter!

    Q:  Is the caliber .50-70? 05/19/2012
        A:  I would say so but not 100% sure.they mad these rifles in many calibers!It does mike out as .50 cal.whether it is 50/70 is another story!Thanks,buck38 05/19/2012

    Q:  It appears that this rifle is missing the pin retainer plate, or "button" on the left side of the receiver. Is that right? 05/20/2012
