Colt, model 1861 special musket, 58 caliber, blackpowder. Manufactured between 1861-65, this gun has a lock date of 1862. These single shot muzzleloaders were made for use in the Civil War. This gun has a oil stained walnut stock and they were finished "in the white". There were no serial numbers used on the productions of these rifles. An American eagle is marked on the bolster. This rifle is in great condition.
