Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece stocks are wood. The butt stock appears to have had a crack extending along the right side of the upper tang, repaired with a wood screw installed on the right side of the pistol grip. There are what appears to be the start of small cracks on each side of the lower tang. There is a Bakelite(?) cap on the pistol grip. The wood finish shows evidence of a century of use. The LOP measures about 14” from the front of the trigger to the rear of the hard Bakelite(?) butt plate. The stocks rate in about Fair overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no pitting or erosion.
Overall Condition: This gun retains about 40% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some a heavy patina throughout, over some erosion. Finish only remains in protected areas. The Screw heads are distressed but serviceable. The markings are faint and barely legible. Overall, this gun rates in about Poor condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this gun.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
Our Assessment: The Crescent Fire Arms Company is alleged to have manufactured over 100 different “house brand” shotguns in addition to their own label. After several changes of ownership, it was last owned by Savage Arms Co. This is an example of a “pot” shotgun, most likely used for small game and pest control. It could still fulfill this mission, if you choose.
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This gun can be transferred in California, and is C&R eligible.
