Description: Up for auction is a J. Harder (Before they became J. Harder & Sons) Muzzleloader with a heavy 33.5" rifled octagon barrel! Manufactured in Lock Haven PA. It appears to be around a 52 cal. This gun is in amazing condition for its age! Hammer cocks, set trigger functions properly, still has what appears to be the original wooden ram rod. Has a brass trigger guard, butt-plate and front sight. Stock is not cracked at all which is amazing for a gun of this weight! It does have one minor nick right near the hammer (see picture with hammer back).

Any Civil War era historians or collectors we would love to hear any information you can provide us about this firearm!

One of the last and most prolific makers of multiple-barrel guns was named Jacob Harder, who worked at Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. Harder is reported to have employed eight gunsmiths at one time; and, in addition to making double guns, he made double, double (four barrels) guns and a number of single guns. Must See pics! It will be $15.00 Shipping to your FFL. Happy bidding and good luck! We accept faxed and e-mailed FFL's.

Questions for Users
(Public)
Q:  Just curious, why the FFL requirement when this is obviously an antique? Thanks 05/18/2012
A:  There is no FFL required, we apologize for that, it is simply a template we use when posting firearms and forgot to remove that line. 05/19/2012
