Up for bid is a very nice antique 1890 Erfurt manufacture Gewehr 88 Commission rifle. Blue is at 95% with no significant handling marks. No import marks. Bore has strong rifling and very clean. Chambered for the 8x57mm round (post-1905 8x57mm), these rifles were sold to Turkey during WWI. S" on the chamber indicates a .323" groove diameter ba. Action is crisp and tight. German Army regimental markings on receiver and forward barrel band (see photos). Also exhibits Turkish proofs as well as numerals on rear sight ladder. This firearm has been taken well care of.
