Questions for Users
(Public)
Q:  Bore condition 1 to 10 (10=excellent)? Is bore pitted or frosted, if so how bad? Thanks 04/18/2012
A:  I would rate the bore at 6-7. There is some pitting at about 3/4 way towards the muzzle and a few other small spots in the barrel. Otherwise good. 04/18/2012

Q:  Good Morning, I am interested in your Winchester Model 1885 45-90 High Wall. Would it be possiable to obtain the Serial Number? The marks on the barrel ahead of the forend, are they pipe wrench marks? Is that a hole drilled on top of the reciever? Does the barrel appear to cut (shortened)? Would you send pictures of the above? Thanks, hokie 05/15/2012
A:  S/N #41839 It's hard to tell if it's pipe wrench or not, but if it was there should be additional 'drag' marks from it... I don't think it was pipe-wrenched. Some form of clamping device but it's unknown. It appears that someone did drill a hole in the receiver and plugged it. The barrel does not appear to be shortened. Pictures on the way. It's a long hard road from 1889 to 2012, I'm sure that this gun has seen more than most of us ever will. :-) 05/15/2012
