This short sword is of German origin, made approximately between WWI and WWII. I was told it is a sword for a dock guard in the German Navy, but I'm not sure. The maker's mark in the blade would clarify its origin with some research. The scabbard has shrunk a little and fits a wee bit short. The blade is in nice shape, and the handle retains 80% of the wire wrap. Rare piece of German military history without Nazi proof marks, but swords usually do not contain swastikas. The exact age is unknown, but this sword predates 1946. This item is described to the best of my knowledge; however, I am not an expert and my description is just an honest assessment based on what I know about the item. I came across many swords years ago, and may or may not remember where I procured an item from. These swords have been in my collection for years and my wife has finally convinced me that my daughters don’t want to inherit them, so my loss is your gain. I will accept returns within 48 of receipt of an item, but the buying is responsible for all shipping costs and fees associated with the sale.
