Our Assessment: The Colt 1860 Army was historically a significant pistol, as well as a bruiser of a gun. This hefty powerhouse could drive a .44 caliber ball as hard as black powder would allow, and it quickly earned a reputation as a fearsome man-stopper. The modern generations of these big revolvers are crafted of quality steel, built to Colt’s exacting tolerances, and make excellent collector’s guns as well as quality shooters. Whether an aficionado of the American West, a cowboy or Civil War re-enactor, or a collector of fine firearms, this 1860 will make a very happy owner of the lucky winning bidder!
