Here is a nice, original, example of a US MODEL 1816 percussion musket converted to percussion. It was manufactured by M T WICKHAM in Philadelphia and the lockplate is dated 1829. It is a 69 caliber smoothbore. It is one of many that were converted to percussion, possibly for use in the CIVIL WAR. WICKHAM made 16,600 muskets for the US ARMY between 1822 and 1837. This one is in fine condition showing a smooth even patina with some roughness at the breech area as shown. The barrel has a NJ surcharge as show, The wood is in excellent condition, with a visible cartouche and "V" proof mark, no cracks or damage other than 183 years of life. The action works fine. This is a nice looking example of an early US musket. I will need the buyer to include $40 shipping. NO RESERVE!!! FOREIGN SALES OK, with additional shipping.
