WWll Japanese Type 89 “Rokuoh-Sha” 35mm Machine Gun Camera 1>
This auction is for a WWll Japanese Type 89 “Rokuoh-Sha” 35mm Machine Gun Camera. This camera is in very good condition and does function. The owner actually took some photos using today’s 35mm film (see photo in stopwatch location). The wooden case has lots of gouges, dents and dings (see photos) and was repainted somewhere along the way from Navy grey to black. The lock is broken and the latches are gone. One carry handle was replaced. There are other small repairs to the wood inside and to one hinge on the cover of the film canister storage compartment. There are 6 film canisters (see photos). The remote control cables are included (see photos). The hand tools are missing. There is some unidentified hardware included (see photos). The front and rear sights are included (see photos).Operators manual and other documents shown in photos are included.
History
WWll Japanese Type 89 “Rokuoh-Sha” 35mm Machinegun Camera made by K.K. Konishoruko Manufacturing Co. Rokuoh-Sha became K.K. Konishiroku in 1936 and was later to become Konica. The camera takes 18×24mm pictures on 35mm cine film loaded in 2.5m strips. It is driven by a hand cranked spring motor and can take sequences at 10 frames per second. The taking lens is a Hexar Ser.1 7.5cm f/4.5, and the firing time is recorded via a Hexar Ser.1 4cm f/4.5 auxiliary lens aimed at a stopwatch dial via a prism. The optical sight, handgrip and attachment lugs are removable and minor variations may exist between these cameras. This camera was used as a training tool for gunners and pilots. It could be wing mounted and controlled from the cockpit with remote control cables (see photos) or mounted in place of the Type 89 7.7x58mm cal. Japanese made Lewis Machinegun in the aircraft. The stopwatch was mounted in the plastic dome on the front of the camera. The Hexar Ser.1 4cm f/4.5 auxiliary lens aimed at a stopwatch dial provided that image on the film. Thus they could determine how long the trigger was pulled equating to burst length. Records show this camera was used by numerous models of Japanese Army and Navy aircraft which were armed with the Type 89 Machine Gun including the KATE (see photo), JILL, ANN, VAL & others.

RESERVE AUCTIONS:
We do not disclose the Reserve on our “RESERVE AUCTIONS” because doing so defeats the purpose of the auction. Disclosing makes it a “Sale”, not an auction, much like a classified listing. Most of the firearms we offer at auction are on consignment with us from one of our clients. Our commitment to our clients is to obtain the highest fair market price possible for their firearms. Thus, we prefer the Reserve Auction and the “HAGGLE” feature offered by Auction Arms. About 50% of our sales are completed via the Haggle. In a Reserve auction if the high bidder does not reach the reserve buy to end the auction the high bidder or the seller may institute what Auction Arms calls a Haggle a one-on-one exchange between buyer and seller to try and come to a mutual agreement on a price. If you are not familiar with the Haggle process, click on Auction Arms “Help & Info” for complete details. For those items that are not on consignment we usually offer a convenient “Buy-It-Now” price.
We are GOLDEN BEAR SERVICES, INC., a Federally Licensed Firearms Dealer in the Denver Metro area. We market exclusively on Auction Arms (since 02-23-1999) and our feedback exceeds 1000 positives.
