SOMEONE JUST POINTED OUT THIS IS A BELGIAN, ANOTHER FELLOW SAYS SPANISH. I WILL HAVE TO RESEARCH THIS MORE. PERIOD COPY OF A MERWIN! WHEN COLT 1873'S WERE 12 BUCKS, MERWINS WERE 24! AND IT SHOWED. THE FAST EJECTION OF EMPTIES WAS VERY SUPERIOR TO THE COLT. SLICK FUNCTION AND QUALITY THROUGHOUT MADE THESE WONDERFUL GUNS. THIS ONE FUNCTIONS JUST FINE. THE QUICK EJECTION IS ACCOMPLISHED BY PULLING ON THE RELEASE IN FRONT OF THE TRIGGER, TWISTING THE BBL CLOCKWISE AND PULLING THE BBL FORWARDS. THE CARTRIDGES' RIMS STAY ON THE BREECH FACE DUE TO AN INGENIOUS DESIGN WHICH RETAINS THE RIMS WHEN INSERTED DURING LOADING. THIS IS THE EARLY, SCALLOPED 7 INCH VERSION. SOME NICKLE REMAINING. GENUINE IVORY GRIPS. NO FFL BUT I NEED PROOF YOU ARE 18 AND WILL OBSERVE YOUR STATES LAWS. 35 YEARS FULL TIME GUNSMITH. WWW.GUNSMITHINGONLY.COM mm, well, 44-40 won't fit. 44 special won't either. the chambers at the front measure 430. Bore is .430. Rifling is still good enough to shoot well, it's pitted but strong. I have experience in this area. The two ctgs were too big in diameter to go in. I think 44 Russian is the same diameter as 44 spec. Chambers are 445/447 in diameter and are bored straight through. I do not know what it takes! Sorry. .44 COLT? SOMEONE JUST TOLD ME THIS A 44 M&H CALIBER GUN. Side plate appears completely original but needs a little fitting to get it to sit back down. The famous Merwin "suck" is not present. Rotates properly but loose lock up. Could easily be re-timed to lock up tight. Could be a very decent firing gun if we could figure out ctg.
