This auction is for a scarce Smith & Wesson Model 520 357 Magnum revolver 4" bbl. This model was designed for the New York State Police who contracted for 3000 revolvers. They were made in 1980 and for some reason the contract was cancelled so S&W sold these on the civilian market. This one is in excellent condition and I would rate at a strong 98% due to some light handling marks. It shows little evidence of ever being fired outside the factory. If it was fired it wasn't much. The Model 520 was the only 357 Magnum N frame S&W ever produced with fixed sights. There is no box. The barrel is pinned and the cylinder recessed, with excellent timing and a smooth action. As with most Smiths from this time period the grips are numbered to the gun. Holding this revolver in hand you can feel the quality that was once Smith & Wesson. Plus it has a coolness factor of being an N frame with fixed sights. This is one of those S&Ws that well kept will always command a premium and steadily go up in value.
