Someone could outbid you in the final seconds of the auction if your Max Bid isn't high enough. You're not the high Bidder until you've been notified by email that you are. Guns For Sale - Jaeger Custom Winchester U.S. -- M-1917 .30-06, Zeiss ZF39 Scope, Jaeger QD Mount

Winchester 1917 Jaeger Custom.30-06, Zeiss ZF39 scope and Jaeger QD Mount

This auction is for a Jaeger Custom Winchester U.S. Model 1917 .30-06 caliber with a Ziess ZF39 scope and a Jeager single lever quick disconnect scope mount. The rifle was purchased after WWll when the US made Enfield’s were sold as surplus for around $12.00. The owner says his Dad had all of his gun work done by Paul Jaeger in Jenkintown, PA, close by where he lived. The owner believes his Dad had this Winchester custom built by Paul Jaeger sometime in the 1945 – 1950 time frame. The owner was just a boy of between 5 & 10 at the time so it’s mostly recall of what his Dad told him. We could find no PJA mark to prove the work was done by Paul Jaeger which does not mean it wasn’t or that the mark isn’t there somewhere. It has a very nice Monte Carlo style walnut stock with a Packmayer recoil pad (remains nice and pliable). The wood has a dark stain and the finish is not highly sanded and polished like some Jaegers we have seen but rather has a more rugged finish. It has a very nicely checkered pistol grip and fore stock with a black walnut nose cap. The stock has very few usage marks, mars or scratches. The LOP is 14 ½”. The deep dark blue metal finish is about 99%. Mechanically this rifle is tight and functions smoothly. The barrel is 24” with a Redfield front sight (the hood is missing). The rifling is excellent, no sign of any rust or corrosion. It is fitted with a Paul Jaeger single lever quick detach scope side mount. These sell for between $140.00 & $300.00. The scope is a Carl Zeiss JENA Zilevier Nr. 76313 ZF39 type scope. The scopes black finish has flaked off in places and has been repainted in places. The optics are clear and sharp with a single dot reticule centered on very fine crosshairs. The name Zielvier includes the word vier, meaning four, or a four power scope. These scopes sell for as much as $700.00. The rifle, scope & scope mount are easily worth the $1,500.00 asking price.

We do not disclose the Reserve on our “RESERVE AUCTIONS” because doing so defeats the purpose of the auction. Disclosing makes it a “Sale”, not an auction, much like a classified listing. Most of the firearms we offer at auction are on consignment with us from one of our clients. Our commitment to our clients is to obtain the highest fair market price possible for their firearms. Thus, we prefer the Reserve Auction and the “HAGGLE” feature offered by Auction Arms. About 50% of our sales are completed via the Haggle. In a Reserve auction if the high bidder does not reach the reserve buy to end the auction the high bidder or the seller may institute what Auction Arms calls a Haggle a one-on-one exchange between buyer and seller to try and come to a mutual agreement on a price. If you are not familiar with the Haggle process, click on Auction Arms “Help & Info” for complete details. For those items that are not on consignment we usually offer a convenient “Buy-It-Now” price.
