Bullet Mold Sprue Plate/Pin Lube
This item is a 2 ounce bottle of bullet mold
lubricant. This lubricant can be used on bullet mold top, sprue
plate, alignment pins and pivot screws. It may be used on
any mold material -- iron, brass or aluminum.
We have tried many lubes over the years and all but
this one had significant drawbacks. A few of the previous lubes
and ill effects are listed below:
Beeswax, candle wax etc. -- it works for a while but it will build up and eventually require a thorough cleaning with harsh chemicals or the mold alignment pins will stick from the buildup.
Aluminum based
anti-seize compound
-- this works better than beeswax but will build up over time and need
a full cleaning. This is also messy to use as it seems to get
everywhere.
Graphite/moly based
anti-seize compound -- Again this works better than beeswax but
will build up over time and need a full cleaning. It is messy as
well.
None of the above offer

Easy to apply.
Negligible build up with multiple applications.
When used on the mold
top and sprue plate bottom it prevents lead smearing even when the
sprue is cut prior to being fully hardened. This allows for
faster casting with no lead smear cleanup. This is especially
beneficial in the case of aluminum molds as a lead smear can lead to
galling and gouging of the mold top as the hard sprue plate is rotated
time and time again over a lead smear.
Very tidy to use -- no mess as with the anti-seize compounds.
Use sparingly - A little goes a long way! This 2 oz jug should last a very long time.
